A Quick Update

No pictures at this time. Lots of things happening in the Neumeister family - good and bad. First the good ....

Mom and Dad Fargo celebrated their 60th Anniversary on October 7th - quite a feat!!! Congratulations to them for being there in sickness and health, through the good and the bad.

Mark & Heather celebrated their 3rd Anniversary on the same day - October 7th! They will be moving into an apartment sometime in November as the house they had was too big and hard to heat in the winter time. The apartment will also give them possibilities of having neighbors to socialize with!

Gary had a cyst removed from his back - that is still good news! Other than the normal itching that goes along with healing he is doing great!

Our campout with 3 other chapters was cancelled this past week due to all the mud created when it rained so heavily at the beginning of last week. We turned that lemon into lemonade, however, and 4 couples from our chapter held a potluck at the Swedowski home in Sparks. It was a nice evening to just visit!

I got to go to a Placerville Relief Society night on Thursday and we played General Conference Jeopardy. It was a lot of fun and I got to visit with Carole for the rest of the evening when the RS was done.

Now for the bad/sad news. Jason was trying to rescue a kitty from a tree on their property when the ladder fell - and so did he. It was a blessing that I hadn't left to return to Dayton yet and Mackenzie hadn't left for the football game. Kenzie called the paramedics as I tried to help Jason the best I could. It was quite a challenge as he was on a slippery slope and it was hard to get to him. The paramedics did a great job putting him on a backboard and then the firemen helped to get him off the slope and to the ambulance. Heather was at the football game helping with the band food sales so she met us at the hospital. Long story, and more involved .... but he did break a vertebrae in his middle back. He will be home and off work for the next 6 weeks so that he can heal. You can't put a splint or cast on a piece of the spine. He is home and on pain medications. It's only been a few days but he is quite bored. At least the medicine he has now lets him rest a little more comfortably, though he can't stay in the same position for much more than 20 minutes. Tonight he came downstairs and had dinner with the family - quite a lot of activity for him so he went to bed after dinner! Please keep your thoughts and prayers with him and the rest of the family.

Back to some good news. Gary brought the motorhome to Placerville today so that I could have it to live in while I continue to work at the high school. It will be nice to have my 2nd home here so I don't have to transport so many things back and forth to Dayton. I will also be able to sleep better, too! Tonight Gary and the dogs are all here so that is a little more normal to me. They have to leave tomorrow morning so Gary can get his stitches out, but at least they were here for one afternoon and evening.

I broke my computer screen tonight when I was transferring it from Heather & Jason's trailer to the motorhome - - - - I can see enough to do the blog tonight, but now I will have to buy a new computer. Trials and tribulations hit all of us, but I will keep looking toward the positive and just take one step at a time.

It's about bedtime so enough news for now. Hopefully I will have some pictures to post next time - if my computer will work well enough for me to download them.

Have a great week - - -
