Happy New Year, 2011!

Happy New Year to our friends and family. It's been a long time since I have entered anything on our blog. Sorry. I have been teaching full time at EDHS since the end of September, and have only been home on weekends, except for one time period when I wasn't home for 5 weeks!
Anyway, I'll try to update a little on our family.
Jett turned 5 on December 1st, Malia had her first birthday on Dec 7th and Mom had her __th birthday on Dec 7th, too!! I had mine on the 20th and Mackenzie & Melah had theirs on Dec 26th. We finished off the month with David's on December 31st! Jennie & Jeff celebrated their 4th anniversary on Dec 22nd. December is a busy month!

Mark and Heather moved into an apartment in November. They are hoping the move will save them a little money - plus it is a smaller place for Heather to keep up on. They are expecting their new baby the beginning of April so their lives are a little busy. Mark's restaurant will be closing 2 days a week for the winter which should give Mark a little more time with his family. We have reservations to fly back to Pennsylvania in April to spend a week with Mark, Heather and family. Can't wait to see them!!

Jennie started a new job in November as the designer for SIWI denim. They specialize in jeans though they want Jennie to help them expand into tops as well. She likes the people and is much happier than at her old job. She is going to Seoul, So. Korea, with her boss sometime in January. Jeff is still working on arranging a contract with a new partner which should give him some good opportunities in the animation field. His type of work is sporadic, but pays well when he is working! Besso is in 7th grade and attends a new school this year. It has taken her a little to settle in to it, but I think she is adjusting to it now. We got to see all three of them the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve which was really great. Hope to see them again, soon.

Heather and Jason are doing pretty good. Jason is back to work after missing about 2 1/2 months due to breaking a vertebrae in his back. He still has to be careful and cannot do as much as before, until he is completely healed. He and Heather signed up for a new gym in Placerville that is open 24/7 so they hope to go before work several days a week. The kids seem to be doing fine, although you have to understand teenagers! They each rebel a little, in their own way, but that is part of growing up. Mackenzie and Malia stayed at home for Christmas while everyone else came to Dayton, but that was part of her exerting some independence. We missed her, but let her know that we still loved her.

Gary surprised me with the opportunity to buy a horse for Christmas. He had already arranged with a friend to help him start looking and also to keep the horse at her house. I was soooooo excited I don't think I slept much for the first week! After looking at what seemed like a thousand ads about horses I test rode 4 of them. The result is that I have a wonderful new horse named Penny. She is a 16 year old Missouri Fox Trotter mare that is as sweet as can be. She and I will become good riding partners though she will have to be patient with me until I get my horse riding skills back!

This is Penny (and me) the day that I bought her. Isn't she beautiful?

When Heather, Jason and family were heading back to Placerville we all met up in Lake Tahoe to see Grandpa Wally and Marie. This is at a new restaurant that just opened up. I know you can't see quite everyone, but the left side has David, Amanda & Besso and the right side has BJ, Becca and Ahren.
Heather, Marie, Wally and Jason had their own little booth.

Gary and I had our own table, too!
The restaurant was a little pricey, but very good food. We will come back here again when we don't have so many people!

Enough writing for now. I just had to get the blog started again. If all goes well, I will write in it on the weekends and keep up on our activities. I have lots more pictures to share so I will try to add in a few each time I make an entry.

I hope everyone is off to a fresh new year and would love to have some emails back from you!
