Barns, Camels, Hospitals & Tractors - a Normal Week?

Before we left Sprague River last Tuesday we went to look at a house and barn that were being built near the property that Val & Kevan own. Two of Doug & Bev's neighbors are builders and they are working on this project. We really liked the barn and think we might do something similar when we get a chance to build on our property.
This barn/garage has a center area where we could store our motorhome and two sides where are cars could go. The cover on the side could be where we store garden supplies!

The foundation for the house is formed with styrofoam blocks filled with cement. The builders, Dave & Davey said it is quick and easy to put up and build. We could even put a root cellar under part of the house.
Anyway, its just something to keep in the back of our minds when we are ready to do something.

We got home on Tuesday and started emptying out the motorhome and doing the laundry. We needed to take the motorhome in to the shop to repair the damage the RV repairman did when he backed his trailer into it! Always something. It should be done by midweek so that we will have a chance to clean it before we go to the Nevada State Samboree next week.

We got a chance to go to Virginia City for the Camel Races last weekend. Dean & Roberta, and Dave and Nellie Gray rode their motorcycles to VC and we met them for lunch before the parade started.
Some of the camels that would be part of the races spent some time parading down the street!
After the parade we headed for the grandstand to watch the races. The guests of honor for the parade and races were the cast of the original show, "The Virginian."
Camels did most of the racing, but there were also races with ostriches and emus. It was fun watching all the antics. Gary kept letting us know that he was not riding a camel in any way, shape or form! I guess he was worried!
When we got back from the races I reviewed the lesson I was to teach at church on Sunday. The lesson was about Job and the challenges he faced. It was easy to correlate it with modern day trials and tribulations and we talked about our integrity and staying the course no matter what we came against. There was more than just that, but it is hard to explain it all in a quick manner.

Gary and I went to visit a family from church on Sunday and then found out that his Dad was not feeling well. By time Monday morning came he did agree to go to the ER at Lake Tahoe.

Even though he was not feeling well he still managed a little smile when I asked him if I could take his picture. Today is Tuesday and he is in the hospital for a second night so that the doctors can do a little more testing. We think part of the problem is dehydration, part is taking OC meds that are not agreeable with him and they are still looking into the reason for his leg pain and or numbness. Medicine is a lot of ruling out what isn't wrong so they can narrow the possibilites.

On the way home from the hospital today we stopped in Carson City to look at some tractors.
Gary is trying to find out all the "ins and outs" of tractors, what they can do and what to look for. The ones he looked at today are made by Kioti. He wants to look and compare several different brands to see what he feels would be the best one. Of course, we don't need one yet, but the fun part is exploring them!

Well, I think I have caught up on most of the happenings for the past week. Tomorrow I am going to Placerville to have lunch with Carole, stop by EDHS to see the Math teachers and of course, go see the kids, grandkids and great grand daughter! I am anxious to see the two teeth and the crawling!
