It took awhile to get another camera. I ordered one online from Walmart (Monday) and they sent me an email Wednesday telling me they were out of stock. A quick order to Amazon on Wednesday was successful - the camera arrived via UPS on Thursday!
This was the first picture I took, just to see how the camera worked.
I then turned to the waterfall in front of the porch - still experimenting with my new camera. Not too bad.
Wednesday Gary and I worked on our property for about 5 hours. We rented a pole chain saw and trimmed up about 30 trees to get rid of dead or broken branches and so that we could walk under them. It was hard work and we were pretty tired, but it sure looks a lot better.
Thursday we drove to LaPine and Bend with Doug & Bev. We went out to breakfast in Chiloquin, then headed to a log home representative in LaPine. After driving 2 hours we were really disappointed and upset when the rep wouldn't take time to talk to us. (Gary emailed the company when we got home and expressed his thoughts!)
After having a great lunch at Scholtzky's (in Bend) we then drove to see a rep from a different log home company. He bent over backwards to make sure we could find his place, then spent at least one hour talking to us.
Heather, Jason and Rebecca drove in after midnight Thursday night and will stay with Doug & Bev until Monday. This morning (Friday) Gary, Doug & Jason went to the property to pick up the cuttings we had done on Wednesday. They made 6 big piles of branches on some of our clear area and stacked all the wood that could be used for firewood next to the trees it came from. We will have to wait until November to burn the piles (bonfires!) but hope to cut up the firewood for a neighbor who could use it to keep warm this winter.
After the guys were finished for the day I went back to take some pictures. This is looking from about the mid front of the property toward the northwest.
Bev, Heather & Becca are standing in the area we think we will build our home someday.
This is from the house area looking toward the southwest corner.
This was taken when the guys had been working for about an hour - the trailer was already full with the first load of branches.
When Rufus (neighbor dog) and I walked back to the "house area" we sat on the chair that would have been on our front porch!
Can you picture this area cleaned up and planted with grass?
Looking west from the southeast corner.
Tonight we met with Tami, Bryan, Andy and Hannah in Klamath Falls. L to R are Becca (hard to see), Hannah, Andy, Bev & Doug.
On the other side of the table, L to R, are Gary, Jason, Heather, Tami & Bryan.
I am still full from our dinner!
Tomorrow we will all meet at the Antique Engine, Tractor and Threshing Bee then go back to Bev & Doug's for a BBQ. Sunday we plan to go to Lava Beds National Monument then go to Tami & Bryan's for a BBQ. It will be a busy weekend.
It's late and I'm tired. Will try to get more posted tomorrow.
