We Never Knew ....

We never knew how strong a son Lynn has raised in Ryan.  He has had to make some pretty difficult decisions but knew the direction his mother would want to go.  He is staying focused on the future and what she would want for him and I am so proud of both of them for this accomplishment.  Lynn is a registered organ donor and Ryan is trying his best to make sure that chance is available.  He (and our family) sat in conference with nurses, doctors and organ transplant staff and listened and asked questions and made a decision to sign papers for her donations.  After all was said and done and Ryan had a chance to spend time with Lynn and say his good-byes we helped him get to his plane so he could return to school for the final 3 weeks.  When Gary and I got back to the hospital we were faced with another obstacle.  Because Lynn was on a medication to keep her in a coma she could not yet be an organ donor.  We had to get Ryan's permission, again, when he landed in LA, to stop the coma medicine and put off the donations until after the medicine's affect was completely gone from her system ... There are more details than that but essentially we will be keeping Lynn on life support for several more days to let that medicine be depleted.  It is so hard to wait when we know what the outcome will be, but Ryan is trying to follow his mother's wishes and we support him in that effort.  Just know that Lynn is in the best hands with the staff in the ICU at Renown and we know they have been and still are doing the best possible for her and her family.  We have felt the prayers and good thoughts of all Lynn's friends and family.  Just remember to tell people you love them.
