This is the view from Donna & Ken's back deck. They have a half acre so there was plenty of room to park our home.
Ken gave Gary some tubes full of sand that he can use in his truck when we have icy roads. They will give some extra weight over the back axles. The picture looks toward the back of the house from our motorhome.
We spent Sunday helping Ken and Donna with different computer problems and showing them how to use a few programs to help manage pictures. Donna now has a slideshow of kitty pictures as a screen saver.
Gary has now learned that now all pulled pork is not the same! Donna added different BBQ sauces and some other ingredients and we ended up with a delicious meal!
Monday morning we found our way to temple square and the parking garage under the conference center. Gary and I were able to do a session in the temple. It was hard finding our way in such a large underground passageway but the temple rooms were beautiful. It was hard to imagine such a wonderful building being built 150 years ago, though it did take 40 years to complete!
After we came out of the temple we found a place to eat lunch and then headed over to the Family History Center. Gary and I spent time learning how to do some genealogy work on the internet and were able to add to or correct information about our family "tree" that was on the church records. It's really exciting when you find records of family members that had not been known before! The center is only open until 5 pm on Mondays so we had to leave, but we are bitten by the genealogy bug now.
Monday evening we took Donna and Ken out to dinner. Actually, Donna drove but we picked up the tab. They took us to a great Mexican restaurant that was like the "Fresh Mex" place we liked so much in Placerville. There was enough food to take home that it fed us for Tuesday nights' dinner as well.
We were readying the rig to take off Tuesday morning. Gary pulled it toward the front of the house so that we could attach our truck to the tow bar.
This is the front of Ken and Donna's house. We always went in through the garage or side gate and I hadn't realized how nice it looked from the street!
We said our goodbyes to Donna - hopefully we will see them in the near future. They are planning on moving to Kentucky next year but will come back to see friends and family.

We had an easy time finding I-80 and are on our final leg home. Today we stayed on I-80 the entire day. It was a little windy and Gary drove with a head/side wind from the south or southwest just about all day. All in all it wasn't too bad of a drive.
Nevada, again! I have tried to take pictures of each state sign as we have crossed the borders but it was great to see the one that meant we were almost home.

Nevada has great rocks, too! One thing we did not do was clean our windows before we left SLC so you will see the usual bug guts smearing the pictures. Sorry.
Nevada has a lot more mountains than most people realize and I-80 goes through lots of passes and valleys. There were still a lot of green areas in the desert due to all the rain that has come this year and we were a little surprised at how green it still looked.
Our last campground of the trip! We have this one on our 1/2 price campground program so it was a nice way to go.
Our site was on the end of the row so we had more open space. It's much better than being sandwiched in between two RV's . We didn't put out our awnings because it was still too windy. Gary was already next door talking to the people in the next campsite.
We are back in our home for the night. Gary is at the computer center where we have been creating our blogs for the last 8 weeks. I think he was working on the genealogy on the internet so I kicked him off to write this blog.
A few interesting facts (at least to us):
We've driven 6376 miles to date with about 180 left to get home.
The RV has used 816 gallons of diesel.
Gary has driven 123.5 hours.
We have averaged 51.6 mph and 7.8 mpg
We have a some exciting bits of news to share with everyone ....
1) Gary's father, Walter, is going to marry his lady friend, Marie, on September 25th. We hope they will both be happy.
2) Mark and Heather are going to have another baby next spring! That will give us an even dozen grandchildren! Mark & Heather are busy thinking of names but we kind of hope they will have a boy this time!
This is our last night out for our big trip but not the end of our blogging. We hope to at least make weekly entries throughout the year and hopefully more often when we head out on trips. Our next mini outing will be next week when we camp for a few days in Hope Valley with our Copper Hills Sams chapter. Between now and then we have a little cleaning, fixing and laundry to do!
