From Samboree to WIND and Rain!

Friday and Saturday were filled with activities.  On Friday we played  in four different tournaments ---- In "31" I played down to the finals then had two playoffs because we kept tying.  In the end, I came in 4th but it wasn't because of lack of effort!
The next game was Singles Cribbage.  Gary made it through the fourth round and I made it through the 3rd round.

Later in the afternoon we were being challenged with a game of "Zilch."  Gary almost won at his table, but alas, it was not to happen!

Randy and I played at the same table and were beat by the lady to his right.  I think she went on to win the whole tournament!

Practical jokes are always fun and I got to decorate this commode for our "King" of the Samboree.  If you notice, I had plenty of beads to use for the decor!  He will be presented his "Throne" at the evening program.  Unfortunately, Gary and I will not be there because we had to leave early to head to Phoenix.  I can't wait to hear the details of the presentation!

Saturday morning we had a nice pancake breakfast, followed by a tournament of beanbag baseball.  Our chapter members were waiting for the game to begin!

Gary was studying the distance and angle for his throw!  Our team won the tournament!  It was great to cheer each other on and we couldn't believe how well we did!  After the BB we had a Nevada State Board Meeting and then our theme parade, "Sock Hop."

The the theme was interpreted many different ways as you can see.  One dolled up her socks and another wore a vest full of socks.

Here we have someone who WAS a sock!  We also had women with poodle skirts and men with cigarette packages in the rolled up sleeves of their white t-shirts.  I don't know who won the prizes as we had to leave early and get on the road.  It is disappointing to miss the final night but sometimes it can't be done any other way!

The sky had opened up while we were playing beanbag baseball so by time we left the storm was in full force.  We had considered waiting until Sunday and leaving extra early but were afraid of the snow forecast in the mountain passes.  Gary held the RV steady as we fought the high winds.  As long as they were headwinds it wasn't as bad as the scary side winds.

In the distance is Lake Mead.  With the weather so rainy and windy it is hard to distinguish between the clouds, mountains and water!

We did go over the new bridge that bypasses Hoover Dam road.  High profile vehicles are asked to say in the left lane.  We had seen wind warnings but when we finally got to the bridge it had a sign saying high profile units were prohibited.  We had no where to stop or turn around by then so we just had to keep going.  Gary just kept our speed down and his two hands on the wheel.  Thank goodness we were not traveling far as he was mentally and physically tired by time we reached Kingman, AZ.
We are staying the night at Wal-Mart and hoping our motor home will stay on the ground.  The gusts of wind are blowing as much as 45-50 mph.  We decided not to have our slide-outs out on the wind side as it was really rocking the house!
Tomorrow we will do our final grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and then head to The Rally in Phoenix.  The weather is supposed to clear out by tomorrow night or early Monday so we should have a great week!
