Saturday was spent at camp because we were having the motorhome washed and waxed! The two guys who did it were there for about an hour power washing it and then they left for awhile to let it dry. When they returned they took another two hours just to wax it. I am sure that Gary was very happy to have someone else do all the labor. It would have taken him all day to do it by himself.
We played games for part of the day and I did a load of laundry, too! Sounds like normal life! The cribbage games I actually won today which was quite a surprise to both of us!
Sunday we slept in and then had to figure out which clocks and electronic devices had the correct time. Arizona does not do Daylight Savings time so their clocks did not change - but we were already an hour different than Nevada time so we needed to do some thinking about it! As it is, Arizona and Nevada are now on the same time. It doesn't matter too much to us as we are not on a schedule at this time!
Later in the morning we headed into town. We needed to check out the Colorado River for my Dad and also were interested in the Yuma Crossing National Historic Site.

The road that our camp is on is the same one that faces the Marine Corp base so I snapped this picture on the way into town. I don't know if we could have gone on base, but since it is still active I really doubt it.

Okay, Dad, this one is for you! Yes, there is water in the Colorado River!!! We crossed over the bridge and ended up in California while looking for the National Historic site. We were probably only in California for 5 minutes as we looked up the information we could find in the AAA travel guide and on our GPS. We figured out that the site is now called the "Quartermaster ..... " and it was crowded with people. There is a Lettuce Festival going on this weekend and we did not want to fight the crowd.
We decided just to grab some lunch at Carl's Jr. (I did not have Mexican but Gary did!) and then go to Wells Fargo Bank to do some business at the ATM. Real exciting, isn't it. I forgot, we had also stopped at a Lowe's and an Advance Auto store to get some clips Gary needed to add another ground to his ham radio antenna.
Of course, we headed back to camp. The weather is so nice (about 82 degrees) that I stayed outside and did Suduko games while Gary worked on his radio grounding line.
We had a visit from one of the camp chickens - she was being followed by 10 little chicks. I doubt they were much older than 3 or 4 days. This picture also shows off our clean and shiny RV!
We finally made contact with Nancy and Max, some friends from our Copper Hills Sams chapter. They knew where our camp was as they used to stay here when they came down for the winter. Now they stay at a daughter's guest house right outside the city in an area called The Foothills. We had a real nice visit with them and are glad we could get together. They know this area very well and I think next time we come here we will let them tell us where to go! We gave them the blog address for us and Copper Hills and I showed Nancy how to navigate around it so I think they will try to look both of them up!
Tonight we will tidy up a bit and do the dishes. Tomorrow we will head north toward Quartzite and Parker, AZ. We will stay at one of them or perhaps go as far as Needles, CA for the night. We don't have to be in Pahrump until Wednesday so I am not sure if our extra night will be on the way or we will just arrive a day early. It's nice to decide as we go!
I'm going to try to win some more games of cribbage. Gary can't win all of them!!!
