We've Made it to Pahrump!!

We did not have very far to travel today and that was really nice.  This picture is the first view we had of the Las Vegas area.  It is actually Henderson and I was quite surprised at how far south the city had grown.

I don't know how well you can see them but the casinos on Las Vegas Strip are the tall buildings in the background.  We skirted around them by taking I-515 and  I-215.  We didn't even need to get on I-15 to get to Blue Diamond Rd (NV 160).  It was a nice drive through road construction, narrow lanes and stoplights but Gary did great, as always.

You can see some of the red rock mountains in the background and also some of the construction area!

The road eventually leaves the Vegas valley and heads uphill until you reach the summit at about 5700 feet.  On the other side is the Pahrump valley.  The Nevada Treasure RV resort is at the north end of the valley so we stopped at Walmart on the way through and looked for some crazy socks (they had none) for our "Sock Hop" themed Samboree.  I did find some capris that I could use for the warmer weather that we are expecting.  We should be having 70's in Pahrump and 80's in Phoenix.  At home in Dayton I think a storm and cold weather is expected so I am glad we are not traveling there yet.

This is our site at the RV resort.  We have a corner site and plenty of room!  The little tiki hut is ours to use.  It has seating on three sides and a small table in the middle.  Today was windy but tomorrow we might be able to eat our lunch out there or play some games!  Mike and Kelvin arrived this afternoon and are now parked next to us so that will be nice.  Gary spent some time with Randy today (I could not find him!) and I guess Shirley was busy organizing the games for the samboree.  We will try to see what we can do to help her out tomorrow.
So, we are nearing the end of our adventures but the last two weeks will be busy!  I hope Lynn can hold down the fort for just a little while longer.  She has been busy helping Mom & Dad and taking care of our dogs.  The dogs are missing us so much they won't leave her alone.  Hang in there, Lynn!
