Weather is the Word of the Day!

Saturday night was quite a night.  The wind was blowing so hard that it seemed it was picking up the RV so we put in our slideouts so that it would have less affect.  We went to sleep feeling a rocking motion anyway!  We could hear the rain bursts every once in a while so I doubt whether either of us got much sleep.
It got cold enough to snow in the mountains around us but the views were beautiful.

I liked this picture because the clouds looked like snowy mountains!

A very appropriate sign!  There was nothing there!!!

It looks like my alligator ha a little too much St. Patricks celebration.

Gary kept asking if we had found Radiator Springs.  When I saw these rocks I thought maybe we had!

We had gone down highway 93 from Kingman to Phoenix and when we got on I-10 it started hailing.  The picture doesn't show the hail on the road but you can see the big spots on our window where the hail was hitting us.

This is our first view of the Phoenix International Raceway.  It will be our home for the next 8 days.

The Rally did things a little different this year.  Instead of having a dinner Sunday night for the volunteers they had a breakfast Monday morning.  We ate at the Raceway Cantina just outside the grandstand.  The volunteers are parked just south of the cantina so we are really close.  I will have to take a picture of the RV tomorrow.  We are parked closer to each other than we have been in years past.  It is even hard getting our little truck in and out of our space so I know we wouldn't be able to move the rigs.

We took a tram ride around the areas where the motorhomes will be parked and then got a semi sneak peek of the interior.  You can see where some of the garages are for the raceway.  I guess we will have to wait until Wednesday to really see the complete area.
Gary and I are assigned parking for Tue, Wed & Thur afternoons.  That means we will be parking the RV's of the people coming to the rally 5 hours each day.  On Fri & Sat we will be helping the CEO of Good Sam and Camping World put on some VIP events.  We have no idea what that means but I guess we may be meeting some VIP's!!  Our work schedule is actually better than we thought as we will only miss one afternoon of rally activities and should be able to go to the seminars we want to hear.  Of course the vendors will get a lot of our attention, too, as we need a few little things they have and will be getting an estimate on replacing slideout toppers that have worn out due to snow and rain!

This afternoon we went in to Phoenix to take Gary's antenna in to get repaired.  We also found a laundramat to get our clothes washed for the last time this trip!  When we got back to the raceway the sun had finally come out and the wind had lessoned so we found our fellow volunteers out walking and visiting with each other.  We met people from Michigan, Oregon, Colorado and California today.  At least when we are wearing our name tags we will be able to remember them better.
Enough jabber.  We will get a good night's rest so we can be ready to work tomorrow.
