A Dog's Life - and a Change of Scenery!

Do you notice anything different?
No rain and no fog! We started north from Amarillo and found some rolling terrain and blue skies. We still had some wind, but it was bearable.
We hadn't been on the road for long when Apollo took up the new position on the couch - this time with a pillow! I took the pillow away and will need to find a cover for the couch soon. What a way to travel!
The area we were traveling through was supposed to be a sorghum growing region. I think they use this for cattle feed. There were lots of farms and lots of silos seen from the road. Today we are traveling off the interstate for most of the day.
Antelope were seen quite often but it was hard to get a decent picture of them. Between the bugs on the window and the way they were generally camouflaged in the plains we were lucky to get any pictures.

A little Texas, a little New Mexico and then a little Colorado was our beat for the day. We were just happy to be out of the tornado watches. Last night we could see the bad weather to the east of us and heard on the news about the telephone poles being snapped during the microbursts.
I finally got a halfway decent picture of a herd of antelope. Excuse the smear on the window.
Though he did get excited when he saw cattle or antelope Apollo also could be found dozing off. I had removed the pillow so he leaned on the edge of the slideout instead! What a life!
We really enjoyed seeing the mountains again. Notice the beautiful puffy clouds and in that blue sky!

This is the welcome sign for Colorado, but I guess you'll have to click on the picture to make it larger if you want to see it! That made the 3rd state for the day.
We are staying at Lake Pueblo State Campground in Pueblo, Colorado. There are lots of big campsites and each has electricity (although the power went out about 45 minutes ago and they are trying to fix it).
Here's where Apollo got excited again. From our camp you can see the marina at this side of the lake. The lake is about 17,000 acres and has several campgrounds around the sides. It is about 5 miles outside of town so I am sure lots of locals are here quite a bit.
Need I say anything about this next picture. Apollo finally got his day!

Plans are to go into Pueblo tomorrow and see their historic downtown area. They have a riverwalk which we hope to stroll through. There is a 5 day Wild Wild West Celebration in town and lots of cowboys and their trusty steeds are here to participate in a National Rodeo. It is supposed to be televised as it is the cowboy version of Nascar!
We will miss that as we just want a casual day in town and some time relaxing back at camp.

Mark had a good phone interview today with the chef at the restaurant in Hershey, PA that he is hoping to work for. He should hear in the next few days if they want to fly him back for an in-person visit to see what he can do!
We are still waiting to hear how Jennie did with the project she was working on for a possible new employer. Keep thinking positive thoughts!
