We slept in this morning ---- ahhhh. Egg McMuffins (our own homemade ones) were a good choice for the day. We took Apollo to the lake for a morning swim then walked around our campground as he dried off. What a rough life!
The historic downtown is being renovated and the buildings were in great shape! The convention center adjoins the RiverWalk and the downtown so everything is within walking distance. We happened to be in Pueblo while they are having their Wild, Wild West Days so the vendors were busy setting up their stands along the street. I'm glad we will not be here when all the crowds come.
This was our choice of lunch today - Papa Jose's Mexican Food. Its a small place but it was bustling and the prices were good - so was the food. The locals seem to like it, too!
Pueblo is the home of the PBR - Professional Bull Riders - so the celebration going on this week is really big for them. The rodeo is one of the big ones on their circuit - kind of like NASCAR only for bull riders.
We walked along the river (Arkansas River) on our way to downtown, so of course we walked back along the river to get back to our truck. They do have a boat ride on the river which opened up last week and new boat captains were being trained today!
I was hoping the flags and the bridge would show up better because it was really pretty. Just imagine it!
Back at camp we took Apollo on a long walk around the campground and visited with fellow RVers who had been coming to this lake for more than 40 years! They said they were here when it was dedicated by JFK.
Apollo got his last swim in the lake and a short walk to dry him off and then we borrowed an extra water hose from our neighboring campers so we could fill up our almost empty tank.
We washed front windows and cleaned some of the exterior to get rid of some of the bugs and the dirt from all the weather we have been having around us. Unfortunately the little biting flies (or large gnats) around here are plentiful that it makes it miserable to stay outside for long.
A note about Jennie's job search - she turned in a beautiful portfolio of new designs to the potential employer and is waiting to hear back from them. I couldn't believe how many styles she designed in such a short time. She also said that Jeff has a pilot for a show he and his partner are creating and he hopes to have it ready for production soon. They are hoping to have it picked up by Adult Swim Network or Comedy Central or a similar company. Someday I will understand exactly what Jeff does, but again I marvel at the creativity that seems to come from him and Jennie. Wishing them both the best next step in their pursuits.
Tomorrow we head out for Denver, then west. We will probably stay somewhere along I-70 near Rifle or between there and Grand Junction. We'll see!
