Lazy 5 Ranch, Tow Brakes & Cuatro de Mayo

Well, we all went separate ways today. Dave had to go to work, Gary worked on wiring for our new tow brake system and Pam & Doris got to explore the Lazy 5 Ranch.

The first area was a nice walk around some simple enclosures to see animals .... birds, tortoises, rabbits, porcupines, camels and lemurs to name a few.

After we did some walking Doris and I hopped in our truck, windows down and food ready for our outback adventure. This llama reminded me of Dr. Doolittle and it was one of hundreds of animals in this habitat.

There were big groups of school children today, so they got to ride in the wagons to go see the animals. We would have to wait for 3 hours to get on a wagon so we just went in our truck. It was really cool to just drive among the animals.

This alpaca was one of many animals we fed from the windows of the truck. It seemed harmless enough!

This big guy found out we had food and came to visit us

He ate all that we had left and still hung around for quite awhile as we snapped pictures. Up close and personal!

About the time we were feeding the animals Gary called with a few items needed to complete the job he was doing. His main project was to send wiring from the tail to the head of the RV so that he could see when the brakes in the truck were being applied. That meant he was under the RV most of the morning. After he was able to test the brake system to see if all worked he took some time to figure out why his Amateur (ham) Radio was not working right. He ended up moving it because one of the wires kept coming loose, and now it works just fine!
While Doris and I were getting the parts Gary needed we also went to the grocery store to stock up the RV with perishables. I also bought a toy for Blue Belle as a replacement for the one Apollo chewed up! (They are really enjoying each other!)
When David came home Gary and I took him and Doris out for a Mexican meal. If we had waited until tomorrow we could have celebrated Cinco de Mayo. We just called it Cinco de Mayo menos uno, (minus one) and created our own fiesta! We came home, taught Dave & Doris how to play Phase 10 and had some Strawberry Shortcake! (That's right, even Pam ate strawberries!) Doris won the game and we all agreed to meet again tomorrow!
Maybe a plantation visit will be in order for the day, along with doing laundry and cleaning up the RV. Can't believe we need to head West on Wednesday.
