Weather, Sports & Headlines!

Texas Rangers are known to play a few games here - just not today. Across the street from here a new gang is in town - at least they're hoping to play.
The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium (for you, Ron!) is the new kid on the block. It was all closed off to visitors so we drove around the two sides closest to the street. Lots of construction work was being done on the stadium, landscaping was happening and parking lots were being paved. I don't know if they will be ready for tours by June, but hopefully they will be ready for game day in the fall.
From the literature I read the playing surface is supposed to be 50 feet below ground level. The Statue of Liberty can stand under the dome and the Empire State building could lay lengthwise in the stadium. It is the largest structure without columns for support ..... pretty awesome.

We went in the Walmart across the street from the stadium. I wonder if they will have any customers able to park there on game days.
As we went back to camp we passed by the GM Automotive Plant. I am not sure what the latest news is on their bankruptcy, but it was sad to see another community affected by the economic situation.
We had rain all day today but I thought this picture would show how beautiful ominous weather can look!
I found more oil derrick picnic tables at the rest area just as we were leaving Texas.
We made it to Temple, Oklahoma and were greeted by Nancy, our former neighbor. She is Ron's mother (of Ron and Leslie fame) and greeted us as we drove down her street. Of course, Gary was already looking at projects she would like to get done.

We walked around town to get a feel of where Nancy lived. Everyone who went by gave us a wave! Many of the buildings were empty but Nancy said there was an effort in town to clean up and try to get new business.
The business below is for sale - $10,000 or best offer. Nancy would love to buy it and open it up as the "Catfish Hole." She would serve catfish, coleslaw, fries and hush puppies! Anyone want to be her partner?
We went over to examine a train that had been sitting by one of the grain elevators for awhile. Gary got Apollo to climb up the steep stairs, but what goes up must come down and it was quite a challenge getting him down! We told Apollo that the train was his birthday celebration - Happy 4th Birthday, Apollo!
Nancy made enchiladas - did someone say Mexican food? - and we had a nice dinner. Gary went back to the RV to let out Apollo and found this note. We were parked in front of an abandoned house two doors from Nancy - I guess the owners still wanted to check on it even if they didn't live there. Nancy called them and explained we were just friends spending the night - they must have been the one car we saw in town that didn't wave when they went by.

We will leave in the morning and bring a few things from Nancy back to her grandkids in Dayton. Our next stop will be either Amarillo or Dumas, Texas and then we will head into Colorado. We look forward to seeing Mark & Heather's little ones ......
Right now we are praying that Mark and Jennie have good job interviews this week. Mark is looking at a job in Hershey, PA and Jennie is looking at one in the LA area. Help us keep positive vibes going their way.
