Super Bowl Sunday we traveled in 3 states!

Driving from Tucson, AZ to Anthony, Texas took us through about 160 miles of southern New Mexico. We are pretty much on a "drive til we get there" mode on the way to New Orleans. We will do our slow driving after we go to the Mardi Gras and make stops to see the sights.
Parking with the BIG guys! We stopped at a Dairy Queen/Trading Post before we left Arizona. Gary got to have his favorite Blizzard dessert and I got to look at the trading post!

These mountains are near the AZ/NM border. The sky was kind of hazy today (and the window still has bugs on it) so the pictures are kind of hazy, too.
I try to get a picture each time we cross a state line - some turn out great and some turn out like this one.

This was supposed to be a picture of us crossing the Continental Divide .... we hit a bump right when I clicked the picture so all we got was the elevation portion of the sign. It really was the divide, but I can't prove it by this picture.

Las Cruces is a pretty large city. I think it houses the University of New Mexico and we may stop to see some of this area when we are traveling back through here.

The attempt to capture the "Rio Grande" sign was pretty bad.

Of course, the river itself didn't impress us either! I think they need a little rain here and/or a little snow in the mountains.

We are staying the night in a campground right over the border of Texas. If we look southwest we see Mexico as we are right on the "3 corners" of New Mexico, Texas & Mexico. There is a Camping World right next to our camp so we will visit it tomorrow morning. Gary fixed the leak in our water heater before we left Dayton and the leak in the shower while we were in Tuscon. We hope to get the part we need to fix the water line to our refrigerator tomorrow. If all goes well we will be off tomorrow afternoon for our first of 3 days crossing Texas!

So far we have had good weather though today was the first day we had a headwind. We were getting 9+ mpg until today. Hopefully we won't have too may days of headwind! The new TV that Gary installed is working great. We can now use our regular antenna to get local channels as the new TV is an HD version. We will probably stay at rest stops or Wal-Marts the next two days so I am not sure if we will be able to post to the blog until we get to Beaumont, TX as that is our next scheduled campground. We will keep taking pictures and post them as soon as we can.
