Tuesday – Lots of clouds and lots of stops

We decided to drive about 300 miles today so that we could arrive at our campground a little earlier tomorrow. It was cloudy but otherwise good weather. About an hour into our drive we stopped at McDonald’s in Junction, Texas to post our blog from yesterday. It’s nice knowing we can access internet at their stores.

We made our second stop to make an adjustment to the new TV that Gary had installed. This is one of the many picnic areas that are along the interstate.

Each picnic area has different types of covers for the tables. We have seen some that look like teepees and others that look like wagon wheels. It’s interesting to see what we will find.

Gary was loosening up the mounting bracket so we could move the TV a little more to the right. It had started to hit the cabinet on the left so now the problem is solved!

We had several 7% downgrades today but they were not very long. The picture I wanted to take got blocked out by a big rig traveling a little faster than us. Oh well, there will be more.

It was nice seeing trees and green today. The last several days we just had a desert scape!

When we came to Boerne, TX we took off on a side road (TX 46) instead of staying on the interstate. It was a little slower travel but we got to see more of the culture than we do on I-10. It actually saved us about 30 miles of travel. We bypassed San Antonio but plan on stopping there on our return trip.

This stop was at a regular rest stop. The difference between a picnic stop and a rest stop is that there are more benefits at a rest stop ---- bathrooms, vending machines, information about the area, etc.

Inside the building they had lots of information as seen in the picture below.

There were four major displays at this stop which told about the local people and history.

Our last stop before we stopped for the night was at another picnic area. We had been hearing a funny noise and determined it must have been on the roof.

We could not tell from the ground so Gary had to inspect the roof. The problem was the special cap tape that we had replaced at our RV repair shop was coming loose! Gary sealed it the best he could at the time but we then called the RV shop when we got on the road. They will repair it when we return home but for the time being they told us to use some self-leveling compound to protect it for now. We are lucky that another Camping World is between us and the next campground so we will be able to get some tomorrow. It happens to be the same store that we ordered our refrigerator part from which we will receive after the Mardi Gras. We have decided that we are doing a great job managing our problems as we travel down the road. What would we do without cell phones and internet?

Tonight we are staying at a Wal-Mart in Columbus, TX. It’s a small town east of San Antonio and just the quiet type of area we like. Of course, as soon as I wrote that a bunch of vehicles with sirens blaring just went by!!! Tomorrow our goal is Beaumont, TX where we have reservations for the night. We need to empty all our holding tanks before we go to our camp at New Orleans! All is well in our rig – hope all is well in your home!
