For a short time I thought we had been transported back to LA! Actually we were traveling through Houston and had to keep our eyes on the route signs so that we did not take the wrong lane!!
Before our trip through Houston we stopped at a Camping World store in Katy, TX. It was HUGE! We needed to buy some self leveling caulking to temporarily fix the tape on the top cap of the RV. We called Sierra RV in Reno to tell them the job did not hold that they had fixed earlier. They will order new tape and we already have an appointment to bring the RV in at the end of March. Meanwhile they told us to use the caulking to make sure we did not have problems when it rained.
I began to notice that many homes were built on stilts. This picture doesn't show it real well but you can get the idea. I have a feeling that when we get into Louisiana we will see more of this as they are pretty close to or below sea level in New Orleans.
Between Houston and Beaumont, where we camped for the night, we crossed Galveston Bay. I know we crossed a few other inlets but I am not sure what their name was.
Of course, it wouldn't be Texas if we didn't see a few oil refineries. The plants are really big and one picture can not take it all in.
This is called "Up Close and Personal" as we were literally only a few feet from the train. We had to get as close as we could so our truck did not hang out in the road.
This picture was taken before we took off again so you can see how close we really were. The camp we stayed at is just down this road.
The camp we stayed at was nice. (I don't know why this is being underlined) It had a pool, clubhouse (they serve free continental breakfast), laundry, exercise room, free use of bikes, etc. The facility was clean and well kept but is definiely for RVs. I still have the need for more trees and wilderness even if we are in our fancy RV.
This morning we are leaving for New Orleans and will stay at a state park (Bayou Segnette State Park) for our Mardi Gras Excursion. I am not sure when we will have internet service so our posts may be sporadic for the next two weeks. We will keep track of our activities and post them to the blog when we can. Here we go!

Tell Gary to change his shirt, he has had it one for every picture.
