We drove into the city, stopped at Home Depot to get some fluorescent light bulbs, a tape measure and some electrical tape - all needed supplies that were not related. Route 66 is north of the interstate so we found it and followed it into downtown. When we got closer to the town center we kept seeing painted horses. I guess it is like NYC's painted cows! I only took pictures of two of them and I think this one was the best.
Lunchtime came and Mexican was the order of the day. This little place is called South of the Border and it is a chain of restaurants. We each had fajitas - mine was chicken and Gary's was shrimp. It was great having our waitress keep asking if "ya'all doin' okay"!
We also stopped by an AT&T store to see if the new Nokia phones were out yet. We are waiting for the one that will let us "tether" it to our computer so that we can have internet wherever we go. Hope they come out soon!
Jeff Johnson (Carole and Jonny's son) came out to our campsite for a barbeque dinner tonight. Jeff and his wife, Nicole, just had a baby boy named Jared Thomas the beginning of March. Actually, baby Jared was born on Gary's birthday! Unfortunately, Nicole and baby Jared were in St. George for the week so we didn't get to meet the new little one. It was still great to visit with Jeff for the evening. He works with Sherwin-Williams and his first assignment is in Amarillo so he is glad to see people from home! (Jeff was actually one of my TA's when I taught at EDHS!)
This is the sunset at the end of the evening. Since Texas is so flat you can see the sunset every evening!
The last picture was taken in the morning, but I didn't get it in the right order. I'm still working on learning these new programs.
We head out in the morning with a destination of somewhere near Oklahoma City. Will sign off for now so I can do some research of what we might see tomorrow.
Bye, ya'all!
