Entering Indian Territory (Thur 4/23)

We left Amarillo about 9 am, traveling east on I-40 (as usual). It was nice to see something other than just flat ranch land. A few rolling hills started to appear along with "green" and trees! I know the panhandle of Texas doesn't represent the whole state, but I already much prefer the scenery in Oklahoma!

I chose this barn to snap a picture of because it looked so peaceful.

Of course, drilling oil is still happening and we did see several places where there was great activity. No great gushers spraying into the air, but I could picture the old movies that portrayed finding the oil.

We traveled just a short way beyond Oklahoma City and stopped at the Firelake Grand Casino for the night. I had looked it up on
freecampgrounds.com and it had free camping with water and electricity. You can't beat that!

Posted by PicasaOur site was backed up to the creek and was quite pretty in the back of our RV. (The front faced the casino and parking lot.) The attendant said the creek was full of catfish and he had even spotted a beaver that day!

We ate dinner at the casino - I think we had an inexperienced waiter as he got both of our orders wrong. The food was fine, but the poor service was disappointing. We tried a few games on the slot machines as the casino gave us each $10 in free play. This time I came out ahead and Gary lost, but we still only spent $2.25 of our own money for the entertainment!
