We again drove our truck in to the rally although the busing situation had been organized a little better after the fiasco the first few days. Today we saw seminars including "Honey, Let's clean the RV" (can you believe I wanted to see that one?), an Amateur Radio one for Gary and a "High Speed Internet" one later in the day.
We did have a mixup today when Gary took the bus back to measure an air filter ... he forgot the RV keys so Pam had to leave the rally and drive back to give them to him. Tried taking the bus back to the rally and Gary ended up back at the rally before Pam! Oh well, being late to the "Cleaning" seminar wasn't too bad. Gary installed a new muffler ( to increase mpg and power) and lifetime air filter, all bought at the rally.
Mom and Dad - I thought you would like a picture of this Shasta Trailer - it looks just like the one I remember us having in the 60's. I took a couple pictures of the interior but am only including one in this blog.
The solar panels that I labeled today's heading .... We have been "dry" camping for a week. That means NO hookups to power or water - and we have only used our generator twice.
We plugged in our crock pot in the morning and it cooked all day long (yummy bean and ham soup) with nary a drop in the power available because of our solar panels. We are also learning that we could have used our stored power for heating our RV during the "snow" days without using our generator. Imagine living on 100 gallons of water for 8 days and having 1/3 of it left! Talk about conservation!!!
Before I post this blog I need to say something about our camping "neighbors". Barry and Terri are from Idaho and we really enjoyed visiting with them. They will be working at a campground in Washington from mid May until mid September. We might look into something like that in the future. Stan and Barbie were on the other side of us. Their "home" is in Florida, though they are full-time RVers. They also do some work during the year at a camp in Texas and travel the rest of the year. They are the couple that Pam went ballooning with on the 20th. NICE people!!
