The sign on the side of the road said "NASCAR Outlet", 30 miles. Of course, we had to stop! This store would have been appreciated much more by Jason, but we did the best we could in his absence. Jason, something is coming home for you from here, just wish it could have been more!
The next favorite stop was Flying J! Gary looks for these as we travel as he fills the tank with diesel and our tummies with lunch! I don't think we have seen such nice landscaping at a FJ before, but the interior was the same! The last time we filled up with fuel was in Oklahoma City - not bad! We have been averaging about 10 mpg which is pretty good for a big rig like ours towing a car behind it.
Lots of pictures of the beautiful Smoky Mountains. You can see the haze or "smoke" in the background which is where the name came from. It did try to rain a few times today, but it never really did much of anything.
The reason I titled today's entry Men and Dogs is because today they each got what they wanted. If you look closely at the picture above you can see the ghost of Apollo in the tunnel.
Here's what Apollo wanted. He had to be in misery when we camped along the Mississippi for two nights, and yearned for every river and creek we crossed as we traveled.
Now he finally got to have his fun in the creek by our campground. It was running swift enough that he sometimes stayed in one place while he paddled. It was like a water treadmill for dogs!
This is the campground we are at. It has the creek, the woods, and the smells of the farm! Actually, the farm odor only hit me when we were up by the main road, but at our site it is not noticeable.
