How would you like to wake up to this view every day? It was great to see it this morning but unfortunately we needed to leave and be on our way.
The left turn signal wasn't working so he did a quick repair and then we were off!
We have lived so close to Highway 50 for so long we thought it would be great to travel it as much as we could. We picked it up just a few miles from our campsite in Carlyle, IL and followed it for quite a way.
As you can see, Highway 50 joined Interstate 64 on our way west so we got to travel it even further than we thought we could!
There is a reflection in our window but I still got a decent shot of the famous St. Louis Arch as we crossed the Mississippi River. When Gary and I were in St. Louis about 30+ years ago we toured the base of the Arch. We didn't go on the elevator to the top as we couldn't afford it. We have since passed by it two or three times but haven't stopped. Someday we will go back and take the elevator!
The Interstate passes right by Busch Stadium in St. Louis so I thought I would take this picture for all the sports fanatics that might follow our blog!
Just west of downtown St. Louis is the St. Louis Temple. We had called ahead to make sure there was room to park our RV - we didn't want to get stuck!
Gary and I got to the temple right before the rain let loose. When we came out the sun was coming out so I was able to take this picture. It was much bigger than the Omaha, Nauvoo or Louisville Temples but just as beautiful as could be.
The dogs did real well when we left them in the RV - they stayed out of trouble and we didn't have to clean up anything!

Of course, we found another bridge along the way so out came my camera.
I think we were crossing the Missouri River - sorry I am not completely sure. I was too busy trying to get the picture!
This picture shows a little of the terrain we were traveling through today. It really was a pleasant drive but we were being warned of an incoming storm with 60 mph winds possible. We decided not to stop anywhere but go straight to our campground. We are staying in Columbia, MO tonight and had only been in our site for about 20 minutes when the winds came and the skies opened up. I was walking back to the rig from getting quarters for the laundromat when the rains came. I was soaked! The laundry was put on hold and I changed into dry clothes - the first time I've worn long pants all trip!
We are staying put inside the motorhome tonight, playing a few games and just relaxing. I had hoped to wash sheets and slip covers, but I guess they will wait - no use going out in the rainy weather and getting soaked again. Lady and Apollo are a little antsy - I think they would rather go for a walk but they will have to wait.
Tomorrow we will go to Wes & Nancie's home in Gardner, KS. I think it will only take about 3 hours to drive there so we hope to leave by 8 am. Can't wait!!
