This presenter was popular as he told the history of Louisville from several different aspects - he must have had at least 6 seminars. Today he was speaking on the part Louisville had in the Civil War.
These are our friends, Barbie & Stan Schaeffer. We met them in Albuquerque when we were camping next to each other. Barbie & Stan were my fellow balloonists when we took a ride in a hot air balloon last year. They are full time RV travelers and are able to visit the country sights in much more depth than the average person on a vacation. Next year they are planning on seeing the polar bears in Newfoundland! We had a chance to get off the fairgrounds with them and had a nice dinner at The Spaghetti Factory in Louisville. I look forward to seeing them again next year. We will need to keep touch via blog and email!!!
The entertainment tonight was the "Rally's Got Talent" and we had four finalists who performed for us. They did a great job and the audience got to pick the winner. The man in the above picture was the winner. He had great stage presence and even pulled some jokes over on the emcee!
The four acts were all on the stage with the panel and a guest panelist - Kevin Skinner! He was the winner of last year's "America's Got Talent" and did a great job helping out before he performed a few numbers himself. He really sings from his heart and it shows. Afterwards he was willing to stay and sign CD's but I did not stay this time.
I could not get a decent picture of him performing so this is the best shot I could get. I guess I should have walked up to the stage and stood right in front like many other people did!
We have reservations at a campground about an hours drive from here for the next three nights. The tanks need to be emptied, laundry needs to be done and all of us need to have 50 amp service for a few days! We plan on using the campground as a starting point to visit the Louisville Slugger Museum and Thomas Edison's home in Louisville as well as going to the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and an Antebellum home that inspired Steven Foster's ballads. (My Old Kentucky Home, etc). Hopefully we will also be able to find the Louisville Temple and spend some time there, too.
Our plans after Kentucky are to head toward St. Louis for one or two days and then go to Gardner, Kansas to see my cousin Wes and his wife. We haven't seen Wes since Heather was one year old so I am looking forward to our visit. As it looks now we will probably be in Salt Lake City to see cousin Donna and husband Ken about the 6th or 7th of August and be home around the 12th. We'll let everyone know as we get closer.
