Well, we made it through the night. After sitting at Walmart in Brownsburg, IN for several hours in which it did NOT COOL DOWN we decided to go get fuel so that we could use our generator and air conditioner. It was a hairy trip on I-70 as there was construction all over, lots of detours and no street lights. Not exactly the ideal situation when you are hot & tired and it is 11 pm at night! We ended up traveling another 50 miles East before we found another Walmart for the night. That's when we decided it was worth it to find a camp site with electricity if the weather was going to be that miserable!!
It was a "spare the air" day because of the air quality and you can see that by looking at the skyline of Columbus, Ohio. I think the humidity is down about 50-60%, which is better than yesterday, but it still is moist to us desert rats!
Tonight we are at an Ohio State Park and are very impressed by how nice it is. They have an area for campers with pets, an area for campers with horses and an area for those with only humans. This campground is near the town of Belmont, Ohio, which is almost at the W VA border.
As soon as we got our camp set up we took the dogs to the lake. Boy, did they love it! They had been so good to travel the last two weeks and watch all the lakes and rivers go by that we thought it was about time they got to go for a swim.
We have tried to stay outside to acclimate ourselves to the humidity. The dogs dried off, sort of, and we put some waterless foaming bath on them to try to sweeten up the smell of lake water. Of course, they liked all the attention.
After dinner we took a walk through the campground and talked to some of the campers. A few have stopped by our camp, too. I much prefer this type of camp to the cement "RV Resorts" that many Big Rig people like to frequent. We may have our conveniences and our technology with us, but being in the forested areas is a lot more peaceful and calm.
We will travel to Shippensburg, PA tomorrow to stay near Jerry and Susan Eyler, Mark's in-laws. We do not have reservations in Hershey until Saturday so we thought it would be great to spend some time just with Jerry and Susan. We look forward to seeing family, especially the grandkids!!
