Three States in One Day - Ending with a Splash!

Kentucky has very nice 'Parkways' and we spent most of the day traveling on them. You can see all the traffic we encountered!
I think we traveled on three different 'Parkways' today as we left Glendale, KY and ended in Carlyle, IL. Gary even commented on how pleasant it was to drive!
Of course, next to rock formations I like to photograph bridges! This bridge crossed the Ohio River into Evansville, IN. We stayed on local roads until we finally caught up to I-64 again.
The signs make it official - we were in our second state of the day!

We probably only drove about 60 miles in Indiana and we crossed the border to Illinois - our third state of the day.
It was time for a rest stop and some lunch. We look huge next to the Penske truck! The rest stop was beautiful, but hot, so we ate inside the RV after taking the dogs for their walk. It was only 90 degrees, but the heat index put it at 102 degrees! We are getting a little more used to the humidity but still can't wait to get to drier climate.

We got off the interstate and headed north for about 20 miles to find our campground. It was hard to imagine that in among all these farms there was a huge lake!
We don't spoil our dogs - not much anyway. As soon as we set up camp it was time for them to take a dip. This was a little inlet that was behind our campsite - the actual lake was a lot bigger than Folsom Lake and had lots of ski boats and sailboats out on the water.

Gary is standing in the same spot in both the pictures above so you can see how close we were to the water. This is a very nice state park that has electric available at each site. There are more than 300 campsites, several docks for the boaters, a few playgrounds, volleyball, basketball, amphitheater, camp store and a pool! I am sure there are a few other items that I missed but we only get to stay here one night so we'll just have to leave it on our "things to do in the future' list!

Tomorrow we will head for Columbia, Missouri where we have a campsite reserved. When we pass through St. Louis we will make a stop at the temple for a few hours. The next day we will be at cousin Wes & Nancie's house for a few nights. Can't wait to see them. They have a home on 5 acres so we shouldn't be too cramped!!!

All is running smoothly with the motorhome now - don't buy any more stock in rubber hose companies as I think we are through with those repairs! Slideouts work, AC works & the hot water heater works (although we still need to do repair on it when we return it at least does the job it needs to for now!)

As I sign off for tonight I am looking out the window at the lake and listening to all the crickets making their song. It really is peaceful. I hope you will have a peaceful night as well.
