We all tried to sleep in this morning. It's harder than you think! Anyway, after noon Mark, Heather and kids came to the campground and we decided to take a drive to Gettysburg. Mark had never been there though Heather grew up not far away and spent a lot of time exploring the area. She wanted to show Mark one of her favorite spots so after stopping for lunch we headed down the road.
This is the area that Heather likes best. There are lots of large rocks and little cave areas to explore and climb around. Of course, the history of the battle fought here is all around. From this spot you could see how the sharpshooters could take out troops as they came by.
We drove up to a mountain top that viewed the valley below. When the Union troops took control they had the advantage. The kids loved climbing all over the rocks and monuments.
We missed being able to view the visitor center as it closed about 5 minutes before we got there. The kids sat next to President Lincoln and Melah and Jett had lots of questions and comments. Jett wondered what Lincoln was reading and thought he might be reading about Jack Sparrow and the Pirates of the Caribbean! Melah like the buttons on his coat and thought he had a nice smile. When I pointed out the top hat Jett's comment was that it reminded him of a clown hat!! It will be great to remind them of their thoughts when they get old enough to learn about Abe Lincoln.

When we got back to camp we took a walk. Gary and Mark had gone around our loop to look at the different types of RV's. Mark is interested in checking out tent trailers or small trailers he could tow behind his Toyota Sequoia.
Jason, you won't believe it but our next door camper is a friend of Mark Martin! He lived next door to him and owns his old home in Daytona, Florida. Apparently Mark Martin left some of his trophies, uniforms & autographed memorabilia in the house this guy owns. He also is friends with another Nascar driver but I forget who he said it was. He has a permanent pit pass for any of the races! By the way, this man drives a Prevost Bus RV so I think he doesn't lack for money.
Tomorrow Mark & family will come back to the campground in the afternoon to go swimming and have a BBQ with us. I need to go to the grocery store in the morning and pick up some chicken to marinade. Um, Um. We might even get out the s'more supplies again! We told Melah and Jett they could spend the night in our motorhome tomorrow - they can't wait!
